Welcome to Ríus Lab!
The overall goal of our research program is to understand the role of nutrients, hormones and regulatory mechanisms of key metabolic pathways to increase nutrient use efficiency in growing and lactating animals. This goal is pursued at molecular, tissue, and animal level with funding driving specific research projects.
Another area of research in our lab includes pasture-based diary systems and pasture-based organic dairy systems.
We study grazing management strategies to maximize pasture quality and yield and cattle performance using cool-season, warm-season, and raw crops in southeastern production systems.
Our research is also focused on mathematical modeling of metabolic aspects in animal nutrition. Evaluation of computer models used in animal nutrition.
